Ministry targets 361,000 teachers for coding, AI training in 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education aims to train 361,000 teachers to strengthen their competencies in deep learning, coding, and artificial intelligence (AI) this year to accelerate digital transformation in schools.
“More than 361,000 teachers and school staff can participate in deep learning, coding, and artificial intelligence training in 2026,” the ministry’s Director General of Teaching and Educational Staff, Nunuk Suryani, said in Jakarta on Friday.
She noted that this year’s training has a wider scope as the ministry begins to emphasize in-depth, subject-based learning in classrooms.
“This training represents a commitment to ensuring that educational transformation—through deep learning, coding, and artificial intelligence—is truly felt in the classroom by enhancing the competencies of teachers and school staff,” Nunuk noted.
She added that training is no longer just about mastering concepts, as the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education wants to ensure that the philosophy of deep learning, which focuses on conscious, meaningful, and joyful learning, is fully implemented in the teaching and learning process.
Therefore, she said, the ministry will optimize the role of teacher groups like Teacher Working Groups (KKG) and Subject-Matter Teacher Forums (MGMP) to spearhead learning innovation in regions.
“We hope the philosophy of conscious, meaningful, and joyful deep learning truly makes its way into classrooms, rather than remaining just a concept on paper,” Nunuk remarked.
Earlier in 2025, the ministry’s deep learning training had reached 88 percent of its target of 60,000 schools, involving 133,391 teachers and 52,809 school principals.
Meanwhile, coding and artificial intelligence training in 2025 had reached 53,000 schools, hitting 97 percent of its 55,000 target.
