Machine Vision Moving Toward AI-Native Inspection

[Part 08 ] ViTrox Corporation Berhad is increasingly becoming a technology company built around machine vision, AI and intelligent manufacturing rather than merely an inspection-equipment manufacturer.

Its core value proposition sits at the intersection of optics, semiconductor inspection, automation and software. ViTrox’s systems combine 2D/3D imaging, X-ray inspection, SWIR and increasingly AI-based vision intelligence to identify defects that become harder to detect as semiconductor packaging moves toward SiP, HBM and advanced packaging.

More importantly, deep learning does exist within ViTrox’s technology roadmap. The company has developed continual-learning frameworks, AI auto-labelling, defect-image generation and AI Auto Lighting, where deep learning adjusts inspection lighting according to different defect characteristics. Its longer-term PVI AGI initiative targets models capable of transferring learned defect knowledge across different surfaces rather than requiring engineers to create separate inspection recipes.

This creates an interesting moat. Every inspection generates manufacturing data. More data can improve recognition, reduce false rejection and improve throughput, effectively converting installed equipment into a continuously improving inspection platform.

ViTrox is now pushing further toward an AI-native, self-optimising factory ecosystem, linking AOI, AXI, SPI and V-ONE through closed-loop manufacturing intelligence.

From a financial analyst perspective, the key question is therefore not only equipment sales. It is whether ViTrox can convert its R&D and AI capabilities into stronger recurring adoption, higher margins and sustainable ROIC as advanced packaging complexity rises.
