DataDome: AI and Agentic Threats Dominate Conversations at Black Hat – The Fast Mode

Artificial intelligence took center stage at this year’s Black Hat conference, where cybersecurity experts, vendors, and researchers highlighted both the opportunities and risks posed by the rapid adoption of generative and agentic AI.

Speaking with The Fast Mode’s Executive Editor, Tara Neal, DataDome’s Chief Marketing & Alliances Officer, Aurélie Guerrieri, described the atmosphere on the show floor as “full of energy and urgency,” with AI emerging as the clear standout topic.

“For us, the most exciting discussions centered on how DataDome’s multi-layered AI platform gives businesses visibility and control over AI agents and LLM-generated traffic,” Guerrieri said. “The rise of agentic AI is forcing enterprises to rethink how they manage traffic, revenue, and risk. It’s not only shaping cybersecurity—it’s reshaping the very fabric of the internet.”

One of the event’s highlights for DataDome came during a presentation by Matt Dalmau, the company’s VP of Solutions & Services. His session demonstrated how intent-based detection can uncover malicious automation and stop AI-driven threats, sparking deeper discussions on the evolving role of visibility and control in cybersecurity. Beyond the presentations, Guerrieri emphasized the value of connecting with customers, partners, and peers to exchange ideas on combating AI-powered fraud and risks.

Two major takeaways stood out from this year’s conference, according to Guerrieri. First, as large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI become more widespread, both legitimate users and cybercriminals are leveraging these tools—making traffic visibility and control more critical than ever. Second, the distinction between fraud prevention and cybersecurity is narrowing, pushing enterprises to adopt an integrated approach that unites both disciplines to defend against AI-powered threats across the entire digital journey.

“Defending against AI threats now demands closer collaboration between fraud and security teams,” Guerrieri noted, “along with a new mindset that fuses fraud prevention with cybersecurity.”

Aurelie Guerrieri is DataDome’s Chief Marketing and Alliances Officer, bringing two decades of expertise in propelling tech companies to scalable success and lucrative exits. In her role, Aurelie leads all go-to-market and partnership initiatives, building awareness and growth for DataDome.
