Wow – we’ve done it again! – Hancock Iron Ore

Hancock Iron Ore is immensely proud to be named the 2025 AI Innovation award winner at The Australian Business Awards, backing up our win in 2024.

Taking the honours this year is TrackDefectX, a transformative rail safety and efficiency tool. It comes hot on the heels of the 2024 award winning RoyBot, an in-house chatbot improving productivity across the business.

TrackDefectX was developed entirely in-house and utilises advanced AI and deep learning to automatically detect and classify critical rail defects.

Analysing more than 350,000 new images every month across segments of Hancock Iron Ore’s heavy haul rail line in the Pilbara, TrackDefectX is delivering improved predictive maintenance, faster response to identified issues, enhanced safety, and extended asset life.
